Thanksgiving 2009

What a wonderful Thanksgiving it has been. Only one slight injury... me burning my hand fixing the turkey... and the dinner was divine! I tried something new by soaking the turkey in a brine overnight then cooking it. At first it seemed like a lot of work, but really it was pretty simple. I used turkey bags and soaked it in 2 gallons of water that had salt, sugar, thyme, rosemary, lemons, oranges, and bay leaves. Left that in the fridge overnight and then rinsed and dried it off and slathered it in butter and baked for about 3 hours until the timer popped. It was FABULOUS! I also stuffed the inside with the lemons, oranges, and more fresh rosemary and thyme. It was not herb-tasting or citrus tasting at all... just a really juicy, great turkey. I will do this every single time I make a turkey from now on!

The girls have been great. Elijah loved his dinner of roasted butternut squash. All in all more than we could ever ask for!

So now.... here are some yummy pics of our dinner.
